Babich
Sauvignon Blanc 1997

Founded in 1916 by pioneer winemaker Josip Babich, it is now owned by his two sons, Joe and Peter Babich M.B.E. This property is a classic example of New Zealand wine estates owned by families of Dalmation origin.
From the Marlborough region on the South Island the grapes benefit from a long, slow ripening period thus increasing its flavour intensities.
The first grapes were harvested on the 6th March and the last on the 6th May. A feature of the season was low acidity which resulted in wines with exceptionally good palate, structure and balance.  In Marlborough the vintage was one of the best for quite sometime, the Sauvignons display lovely ripe aromas and flavours partially due to the low yields.
Tasting Notes:

Colour:            Clear with pale lemon intensity and light green hints

Nose:               Pronounced aroma of gooseberries and tropical fruits with a clean freshness.

Palate:           Off dry with intense herbaceous characters with greengages and Lychees.
Good acidity with a beautiful long finish.
